| Brushed and Brushless Servos Astrosyn is a major supplier of stepper and dc servo motors, drives and controls. DC servo motors are designed to operate under feedback control or a closed loop system. The applications of these systems generally require a very rapid and precise response to changes in speed, torque and position. Servos are designed for rapid acceleration and deceleration and the feedback mechanism is often provided by an integral tachogenerator.
Brushed Servos: Traditional brushed servo motors feature a permanent magnet stator and brushed commutator. Drive circuitry varies shaft speed and torque through voltage cotrol of the rotor windings. LS-S brushed servos offer a very cost effective solution for a large range of applications where the lifetime and maintenance aspects of brushed commutation are less critical.
Brushless Servos: Brushless servos achieve the highest dynamic performance in a compact frame size, together with reliability and low maintenance. The rotor itself contains high energy NdFeB permanent magnets configured to maximise magnetic flux. The multiple stator windings are optimised for rapid sequential energising bythe external drive circuitry to achieve high maximum speed and power. The LS-B series servos are equipped with Hall-effect sensors and/or encoders to permit accurate position and speed checking. A

Hollow Shaft Spacesaver for Neat
Connections Motion control solutions
for machinery and instrumentation often require novel ideas. One
problem that crops up is the routing of cables, probes, fibre
optics etc, between a fixed mounting and a stage or turntable
being rotated by the motor. A neat solution is offered by a hollow
shafted motor from Astrosyn which provides direct access through
the motor body. The model T5385 is a Size 17 Hollow-shafted Hybrid
Stepper Motor with full step size 1.8º. Although the frame size is
only 40mm square, the output shaft is nearly 10mm in diameter,
hollowed out to provide a clear 6.6mm access hole through the
length of the shaft. At its rated voltage of 3.5V and drive
current 1.1A/phase, the T5385 generates a holding torque in excess
of 1.3Kg-cm.

AP dc Motors
Industrial Applications:
The AP industrial series is available in series wound and permanent magnet models, in a wide range of standard types, frame sizes, voltages and power ratings to 17kW. The motors are designed to withstand extreme conditions and applications include hydraulic pumping, emergency steering systems and lifting and hoist operation.
Marine Applications: Motors in the AP range can be submersible, making them ideal for marine applications such as propulsion systems or bow thrusters.

EMI-Shielded
Motors Machinery
manufacturers supplying to the European market need to demonstrate
compliance with a wide variety of Directives, including EMC, which
covers equipment which may cause electromagnetic interference
(EMI) or be affected by electromagnetic interference
(EMS).
Although components do not
individually have to meet EMC regulations, some machinery
suppliers choose to fit compliant subassemblies as a means of
ensuring compliance in the overall end product. Where this
approach is followed, Astrosyn’s EMC-series hybrid stepper motors
are an ideal solution. Available in sizes 17-34, the EMC motors
are fitted with fully shielded braided cable of custom length.

Viscous Dampers for Hybrid
Steppers Our CX range of inertial
dampers for size 17 and 23 hybrid stepper motors is designed to
absorb rotational oscillations. When fitted to the motor shaft,
these clean, plastic encased dampers provide a shortened settling
time and hence a smoother operation. The viscous damping
mechanism is filled with silica gel, which ensures a cleaner, dust
free solution than that provided by magnetic damping.

Astrosyn Magnetic
Clutches Astrosyn
electromagnetically-operated clutches provide a compact,
lightweight solution to coupling a motor shaft to a machine load.
Our BMC50B model is engaged by actuation of a 24V dc supply and
its rated static friction torque is 20kg-cm at a capacity of 6W.

Synchro Torque Transmitters and
Receivers Torque synchros are widely
used for monitoring the angular positions of rotating axes.
Synchro transmitters (TX) convert an angular displacement into an
electrical signal output, while synchro receivers (TR) convert the
signal voltage into an angular displacement. Available in single
or dual shafted versions, our popular model D1356 has TX.TR
functionality, input voltage 200/220V, frequency 50/60Hz, and
output voltage 90±3V. Receiver error is 1 degree maximum. |
