The motor's small size means that output power does not have to be compromised where size constraints only allow the fitting of a size 17 device. Rare-earth magnets and slightly extended rotors combine to give an exceptional torque performance.
"A further advantage is that the unit is significantly cheaper than larger models of comparable torque," added Simon Hunt, Astrosyn's technical sales director.
The MY6405-01 has a length of 50 mm and is available with a step angle of 1.8 deg. Rapid acceleration profiles resulting from the low rotor inertia make this motor ideally suited for applications in office automation, cash handling, and x-y pick and place systems.
More torque for less
Low cost stepper motor from Astrosyn outperforms larger models
The latest stepper motor from motion control specialists Astrosyn International Technology outputs a greater torque than larger models. The NEMA size 17 bipolar unit, known as the MY6405-01, produces a holding torque of 60 N cm, making it more powerful than some size 23 stepper motors.
