Microstep this way for a great performance...
Astrosyn launches compact low-cost stepper driver

A low cost driver for two- and four-phase hybrid stepper motors has been introduced by motion control specialists Astrosyn International Technology. New to the European market, the P300 is a compact bipolar microstepping unit providing a maximum resolution of 12 800 steps/revolution.

Applications are expected in sectors where space and high performance are important considerations, such as in medical OEM equipment and office automation products.

"The P300 impressed us with its high performance from a compact size," said Simon Hunt, Astrosyn's technical sales director.

In addition to full- and half-stepping, five microstepping modes can be selected, and output current is up to 1.0 A per phase. Accepting input voltages in the 18-36 Vdc range, the unit measures only 22 x 55 x 88 mm and weighs 150 g. Its advanced design also minimises noise and vibration.
